Now here is a ‘tail.’ – Halton Borough Council is proud to welcome a special visitor, a reading dog to an event at Widnes Library on Tuesday 12 February!

It’s not a shaggy dog story and no we are not barking mad! Research shows young people can become nervous when reading in a group.

Read2Dogs gives children who lack confidence or are reluctant readers the opportunity to read to a dog in a relaxed, informal setting in the children’s library.

Choose a book from the library and spend ten minutes reading to the dog. Perhaps  one of the ‘Woof’ Rendall mysteries, ‘Lassie’ or the ‘Clifford,  The Red Dog’ may be good choices. Although the canine may not appreciate ‘The Cat In The Hat’ or ‘Puss in Boots!’

This event is expected to be very popular so booking is essential as places are limited. Please select a time slot. Each child will need a separate booking.

There are three places per each ten minute time slot. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tuesday-12th-february-read2dogs-tickets-53092534199
