In celebration of Halton’s Golden Jubilee, the Halton 50 Festival took place at Runcorn Hill Park over the weekend.

Thousands of Halton residents turned out in sunshine and showers to enjoy the free festival which featured many Halton groups and organisations with stalls, sports coaching and other activities. Halton Community Radio provided the soundtrack.

A host of attractions included The Great British Food Festival, family funfair, Baby Big Top Circus, Mr Alexander Travelling Showman, a petting zoo, birds of prey, classic cars, mini steamers and tractors and model boat displays.

The Mayor of Halton, Cllr Kevan Wainwright, who had a tombola stall in aid of the Mayor’s Fund, said: “We would like to thank all the exhibitors, food and drink stalls, the circus workshop, Silcocks fair and all the charities and service providers who turned up to meet and greet the public and answer their questions.

“Events like this are nothing without the support of the local people and those who visited from out of the borough. Thank you all for your support – it was fantastic.”
