Halton and Warrington Borough Councils will be holding a joint webinar about mental health, money and debt on Wednesday 17 February.
One in four of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year, a significant number of us will also experience money problems. Many of us are too afraid to talk about this.
The free webinar on 17 February will be encouraging people to break down barriers and to challenge stigma relating to both mental health problems and debt.
It is aimed at front line workers, volunteers and members of the public in Runcorn, Widnes and Warrington.
During the event the speakers will explore the complex relationship between mental health and money; and will focus on the link between mental health problems and financial difficulties.
Halton and Warrington Citizens Advice will present local data, to highlight how requests for financial advice have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A fifteen minute question and answer section, at the end of the webinar, will give people attending the opportunity to engage with the presenters and to ask questions.
As well as challenging stigma and opening up a discussion about debt and mental health, the event aims to raise awareness of where people can go for money and debt advice.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, portfolio holder for public health said: “Its really important we recognise the impact financial worries and debt have on our mental health and understand the best approach to support people to seek the help they need
“There are also many local and national services and charities that help people who are struggling that you can access using our www.halton.gov.uk/mhinfopoint website.”
The event will be held via Microsoft Teams, from 2pm-3pm on Wednesday 17 February. You can find more details and book on to the webinar via Eventbrite.
