Consumers in Halton have been receiving telephone calls from a mobile number stating that their National Insurance number is going to be suspended for essential government security reasons.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, warned this was a scam.
He said: “This has the aim of extracting consumer’s personal and banking details. Do not give out any of your personal or banking details and simply hang up the phone. “
