The Mayor of Halton for 2026 – 2027 is Cllr Pamela Wallace, with Cllr John Abott as her consort.

Cllr Pamela Wallace officially began her year of office on Wednesday evening at a special installation ceremony at Runcorn Town Hall. The new Mayor said she is greatly honoured to represent and promote the borough of Halton at civic functions and at engagements across Halton, Cheshire and the Liverpool City Region. And added; “I’m here to bring people together, celebrate our community, and make sure every resident feels represented and included.”

The Mayor’s role is non‑political, so decisions won’t be based on party politics. Instead, Cllr Pamela Wallace will act as the “first citizen” of Halton, representing everyone in our community equally.

As Mayor of Halton, Cllr Pamela Wallace will preside over full meetings of the council to ensure debates are conducted fairly, rules are followed, and the Council’s constitution is upheld. The Mayor will attend local events and help bring people together, acting as a friendly and visible figure for Halton. In addition to this, The Mayor will also support local charities and help raise money for good causes.

The Mayor Of Halton | Councillor Pamela Wallace

Pamela was born and raised in West Bank, Widnes where she continues to reside today. The youngest of five children, her family included her parents, three brothers and one sister. Pamela attended West Bank School before moving on to Fairfield Secondary Modern School.

Married to her late husband, Ged, for 48 years Pamela is a proud mother to two sons and a grandmother to three granddaughters. Away from civic duties, Pamela has a passion for dogs and enjoys regular camping trips with her family, as well as travelling abroad, where she particularly enjoys reading a good romance novel.

Her working life began at Max Bernstein’s on Hutchinson Street. She later worked as a carer and as a community food worker, roles that strengthened her commitment to supporting local people.

Pamela’s passion for representing her community began through her involvement as Secretary of the West Bank Community Forum. Alongside fellow members, she helped secure the Overall Millennium Community Champions Award for the North West, including North Wales. She later served as Secretary of the Tenants and Residents Federation on Lugsdale Road, Widnes.

In 2006, Pamela was elected to Halton Borough Council and has served continuously as a Ward Councillor, representing what was formerly Riverside Ward, now Central & West Bank Ward. During her time on the Council, she has held the positions of Vice Chair on Safer Halton and, more recently Chair of the Regulatory Committee, roles she has embraced and thoroughly enjoyed.

The Consort of Halton | Councillor John Abbott

John was born on Merseyside and attended the University of Liverpool. He worked as a social worker for twenty years and, for the past ten years, has served as Chief Executive of Halton Disability Partnership, a borough-wide charity with an office in Runcorn.

Alongside his professional career, John has been an elected Councillor for ten years and is currently a Trustee of Norton Priory Museum and Gardens.

John is a proud father to his daughter Alexandra and son Jonathan, and a devoted grandparent to his grandsons Jenson and Freddie, and his new granddaughter Emmy.

He is greatly looking forward to supporting Pamela, a friend and colleague, during her mayoral year, and to working together as ambassadors for the borough.

The Mayor has chosen to support two local charities – Halton Haven Hospice and Fortuna Female Society.

Halton Haven Hospice provides compassionate care and support to people living with a life-limiting illness or terminal condition, delivering safe, specialist end-of-life care for patients and vital support for their families.

As a registered charity, Halton Haven Hospice must raise over £1.25 million each year through donations, community events and fundraising initiatives to remain open and fully operational.

With fundraising pressures constant and the need for support never-ending, Halton Haven Hospice is delighted and honoured to have been chosen as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities.

“We can’t add days to life, but we can add life to days”
