Halton Borough Council, in collaboration with Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, and local housing providers, successfully delivered a week of action and engagement as part of the recent Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week.
The initiative brought together communities and partner agencies to tackle ASB and promote safer neighbourhoods across Widnes and Runcorn. Key highlights included two dedicated days of action led by the Council’s Community Safety Officer and Cheshire Police, during which local businesses received practical advice on preventing ASB and reducing low-level crime such as shoplifting.
Cllr Andrea Wall, the Council’s Executive Board Member for Community Safety, said: “Community engagement was at the heart of the week, with well-attended events hosted at Upton Community Centre and Castlefields Community Centre. These sessions provided residents with a valuable opportunity to raise concerns, share experiences, and access support around ASB-related issues.
“The week also aligned with the Council and Cheshire Police’s ongoing operation targeting the illegal use of off-road bikes. Intelligence gathering efforts were intensified, resulting in the seizure of several bikes from local properties. The operation remains active, and members of the public are encouraged to report any information regarding the storage or use of off-road bikes in confidence to Halton Borough Council at https://forms.haltonbc.info/app/forms/asb-referral-form or Cheshire Police on 101.”
