Junior Safety Officers at Halton primary schools came together for the launch of this year’s scheme.
Halton Borough Council’s Road Safety Team held the event at the DCBL Stadium when nominated Junior Safety Officers were briefed on the programme and received their certificates, badges and packs. They also had a photo opportunity with the Mayor of Halton, Cllr Martha Lloyd Jones.
The scheme is designed to encourage pupils to share various safety messages around road, personal, cycle and water safety.
Children are empowered and equipped to promote messages during assemblies, organise activities and keep a record of their work in a handbook. The scheme aims to create a long lasting positive impact on safety culture and behaviours within the school and the local community.
Cllr Paul Nolan, the Council’s Executive Board Member for Environment and Urban Renewal said: “The scheme is a fantastic way for pupils to disseminate safety information to their school family and broader communities.”
Road Safety officers Michelle Simpson and Ros Wong said they are grateful and thankful to all the schools who are taking part in the scheme.
