The skies over Widnes and Runcorn will be set alight by an explosion of colour on November 5 – with thousands of expected to brave the cold to enjoy Halton’s annual fireworks spectacular.
Widnes and Runcorn will be brought together as the annual fireworks display is set to a movies theme in its 21st year! Classic hits will accompany the show and no doubt have the crowds singing along.
There will be music from 6pm from both viewing areas to warm up the crowd as the anticipation for the big show builds.
Then at 7.30pm Halton once again becomes the North West’s place to be on Guy Fawkes Night.
At Halton Borough Council’s Brindley Theatre, some of the stars of this year’s Panto, Sleeping Beauty will be joining the celebrations.
We promise Beauty, Rebecca Lake, will be awake to meet the public as the building opens its doors for a free night of entertainment and excellent view of the fireworks.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Events, Cllr Eddie Jones, said, “Halton Borough Council’s annual firework display is a great opportunity for the entire Borough to come together.
“It will be great to see so many people from our two towns and beyond coming out to enjoy this great family event.
“As well as providing a safe organised environment for people to enjoy the evening”
Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605, when Guy Fawkes a member of the Gunpowder Ploy, was arrested while guarding explosive plotters had placed beneath the Houser of Lords.
Celebrating the fact that King James I survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfire around London, and months later the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot’s failure.
