Part of Runcorn will become a bit Irish at  Halton Borough Council’s Grangeway Get-Together on Monday 12 March when older residents will be treated to a St Patrick’s Day themed event at the Community Centre, with Emerald Isle themed entertainment.

Organisers. Halton Borough Council’s Sure Start to Later Life, holds regular tea socials event 2nd Monday of the month, from 1pm to 4pm, from February to November.

For £5 there is live entertainment and food and drinks served to the table. There are places for 100 people, and every effort is made so each event is special, with table decoration and themes throughout the year.

At this time transport is not included so people will need to make their own way.

Halton Borough Counci’s Executive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “Everyone is made to feel very welcome, it’s a great way to make new friends, with lots of fun and laughter, singing and if people want to, they can have a dance.”

Here are some of the positive comments from previous events.

“I lost my husband in 2015 and it took me a long time to pull myself together thanks to you this helps”

“Stops isolation, make friends and something to look forward to. Everyone is very friendly and it is nice to come in have a chat and a little dance!

“Had a positive effect on my life – meeting people, getting fresh air, keeps everything working”
