Mr Newhowe is now in the ‘know how’, thanks to an adult education course run by Halton Borough Council.

Halton resident James Newhowe, aged 68, left school at 15-years-old, with no qualifications, to join the Navy so this IT qualification is the first certificate he has ever received !

The seaman has a real thirst for knowledge and cannot wait to set sail on to his next IT course in April.

James said “It’s nice to have an achievement even at my age. Dee is a brilliant Tutor, she doesn’t get annoyed at me asking questions – she is so patient, I wouldn’t change her for anyone!
