Halton Borough Council’s Trading Standards is warning consumers of scam email from someone claiming that you could be the beneficiary of the will of someone you don’t know, often in Africa.

The email is a scam. It is also highly likely any similar email stating you have won the lottery (which you have not entered) will also be a scam.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said “These sorts of emails are merely a way of stealing your personal details and bank details. Simply just delete the email. This is a case of the old adage, ‘If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is’.”
