This year’s Summer Reading Challenge at Halton libraries is now half way through!

So far, more than 1,000 children have signed up to pledge to read six books over the summer. This year the challenge is Beano themed to celebrate the 80th anniversary of one of Britain’s favourite comics.

There are now two remaining free events; the Sporty Spectacular (Halton Lea library, Wednesday 15 August and Widnes library, Thursday 16 August) and the Reading Riot (Halton Lea library, Wednesday 22 August and Widnes library, Thursday 23 August).

All events begin at 10.30am – come along for games, craft & tech.

There will be also weekly summer lunch club. All children attending the morning’s event and registering before 11am will get a FREE pack lunch to eat in the library.

If you can’t attend the events, there is still lots of fun to be had in the libraries with hidden rocks to be found, a book hunt and staff treasure hunt. Can you find all the staff with their Beano alter-egos?

See https://library.haltonbc.info/ or search for #Haltonreads on social media for more information and visit your library to become a mischief maker. Children who complete the challenge will receive a medal and certificate in school in September.
