Halton Trading Standards wants to warn consumers of the rise in scam messages as we move closer to Christmas.
An increase in parcels sent over the Christmas period, along with industrial action, has meant delays in consumers parcels been delivered. Consumers are therefore rightly concerned about where their parcels are in the various postal systems.
Confusion, delay and worry are straight out of the scammer’s playbook, so it is not surprising to see even more parcel delivery scams this year. The examples pictured here are a few examples of those currently circulating; some are more realistic and believable than others.
The National Cyber Security Centre has produced guidance on how to spot and report scam emails, texts, websites and calls. https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/phishing-scams
