The colder weather has brought out cold callers in Halton, according to Trading Standards Officers, with an increase in reports to The Council.

Halton Borough Council is warning consumers that rogue traders are operating within the Borough. Residents’  properties have been cold called by traders stating they have come to carry out maintenance on their stair lift.

The traders subsequently became aggressive, when they were asked to leave.

Halton Trading Standards advice is never to deal with cold callers.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill said: “If you do need work carrying out, try to get written quotes from at least three different contractors before you decide on one. “
