A scheme to replace a damaged footbridge at Runcorn Hill Park has been completed, leaving the area safe.

The bridge at Runcorn Hill was to replace the old crossing which crosses to Weston road with a new steel footbridge.

The old bridge has been changed for one with a modern steel ‘beam and parapet’ bridge providing a route across the gap for years to come.

The new bridge has been designed and fabricated by expert bridge engineers, CTS Bridges, and includes parapets with vertical infills and a non-slip surface, all in compliance with current safety standards.

New railings, which are currently being fabricated, will shortly be fitted at each end of the bridge and all remaining temporary fencing removed’.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Parks and Landscapes, Cllr Stef Nelson, said: “Our primate concern is safety. So this is good news for all visitors to the park.”
