The skies over Widnes and Runcorn were set alight by streams of colour to match any Oscar winning movie, as our Hollywood themed fireworks display to mark Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night thrilled the crowds.
And residents were quick to flood onto social media to praise the show and share their pictures soon afterwards.
Record numbers from all over the North West braved the cold to enjoy Halton Borough Council’s fireworks spectacular from vantage points all over the Borough.
Widnes and Runcorn were brought together as the annual fireworks display was set to a specially themed soundtrack to celebrate 21 years of the annual display.
Ian Moses tweeted “@HaltonBC great fireworks display tonight. Thank you for putting on the show for us all!” John Davey said: “@HaltonBC #Widnes #Runcorn @WidnesRuncornWN @RunWidEvents great fireworks again

Stars of this year’s panto, Sleeping Beauty, met the public, including Princess Aurora, Rebecca Lake and local actor Andrew Curphey, who plays Chester The Jester, as the building opened its doors for a free night of entertainment and excellent view of the fireworks.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Events, Cllr Eddie Jones, said, “Halton Borough Council’s annual firework display is a great opportunity for the entire Borough to come together.
“It’s wonderful to see so many people from our two towns and beyond coming out to enjoy this excellent family event.
