The Mayor of Halton Councillor Margaret Horabin has been made an honoury Rotarian by the Runcorn society.

President Tony Rudder gave a brief on the last year’s activities and demonstrated how members had tried to live up to the theme of People of Action. 

President Ken Tonge then received his chain of office for 2019-20. 

Rotarian Ken in his address encouraged the community of Runcorn to come forward and join Rotary or be Friends of Rotary so that more activities could take place. 

The theme is now Rotary Connecting the World.

Rotary unites more than 1.2 million people Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Past President Tony Rudder presented a Paul Harris fellowship to Ros Gregory for her work in the community especially the environment and mental health in recent years. 

District Governor Elect Patrick Tyrell proposed the toast to Rotary. President Ken concluded the evening displaying his new Rotary shirt alongside the Purple4Polio Banner as he went to India to carry out immunisations three years ago and recently did The End Polio Now 3k walk in Hamburg
