Halton Borough Council’s adult social care services are having a positive impact on people’s lives with an overall improvement in health, according to a new annual study.

The Adult Social Care Annual Report shows an increase of 4.2 per cent in the number of people reporting their health as being good or very good.

About 72 per cent of Halton residents feel they are extremely or very satisfied with the care and support services provided by Halton Borough Council and levels remain consistently good, according the report.

From the sample of service users who were surveyed, 71.6 per cent of Halton residents reported they have a better quality of life having had access to care and support services.

. There was a welcome three per cent improvement on 2015/16 in proportion of service users who have control over their daily lives.

Halton Borough Counci’s Exexcutive Board Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Marie Wright, said: “Our vision is to improve the health and wellbeing of Halton people so they live longer, healthier and happier lives.

“We continue to work within a challenging financial environment with ongoing reductions in the allocation of funding to the council.

“As in previous years, Halton Council continues to prioritise care and support services for thousands of people.”

Statsistics in the report show 15 per cent of the population begin over 65, these make up 72 percent of the 5,160 people supported by Adult Social Care. 1,075 carers received support and 751 people helped through short term intermediate care or reablement.
