With rehearsals starting for this year’s glittering panto tomorrow (Saturday 2 December) we reveal our director. And she is one the very best around, a seasoned pro, with numerous acclaimed productions under her belt.
Lorinda King was born in Hornchurch, Essex and has appeared in, produced, directed and choreographer numerous productions. She is a qualified Drama teacher and teaches Performing Arts at leading colleges in the UK.
Her pantomime and children’s theatre directorship credits include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Jungle Book UK Tour, Wizard of Oz UK Tour also playing the roles of Glinda and Auny Em, Bugsy Malone at The Palace Theatre, Westcliff, A Christmas Carol Schools Tour, Clown for a Day in the UK and Ireland, The Star Cloth Cloak in Cork, Ireland, Thumbelina at the Towngate, Basildon.
Other credits include, Beside Manners at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff, Bedfull of Foreigners in their Uk Tour. She has also been resident director for many productions including Annie The Musical, Oliver the Musical, Scrooge the Musical and the Rocky Horror Show UK and Europe Tours.
This will be Lorinda’s seventh year as director for Polka Dot Pantomimes which she is very excited about as this is where her professional theatrical career began.
“I produced Cinderella here last year and loved the theatre, cast and crew and everyone worked together to make it a fantastic show. We have a stella cast again this year and I can’t wait to get stuck in!” she said.
Heading the cast is Crissy Rock, star of TV’s Benidorm and I’m A Celebrity as Fairy Nuff. Rebecca Lake, returns by popular request as Princess Aurora and local favourite Andrew Curphey is back as Chester the Jester.
