May is National Walking Month. Try a free health, get a free step-o-meter and walk your way to health with schemed offered by Halton Borough Council.

Halton’s Walking for Health scheme, is supporting National Walking Month by offering free, friendly health walks throughout May, and giving away free step-o-metres to those who attend one of our featured walks

Walking is a great way to get active, meet new people and explore your local area.

Most walks are 30 minutes or 60 minutes and during May we have a special two-hour walk.

Paula Parle, Scheme Coordinator for Halton Borough Council said: “We’re delighted to be supporting National Walking Month this May.

“Our volunteer walk leaders help all sorts of people to enjoy the many health benefits that regular walking brings, providing support every step of the way.”

“Our walkers have a great deal of fun, making new friends and getting to know their local area. Many of us know we should be more active, so why not join us this May and let us welcome you along to our next walk.”

Halton runs a variety of walks that are around 60 minutes in length and two short walks of just 30 minutes each week. By keeping walks short, new walkers and those with long term health conditions will feel more confident getting started.

Walks include: Tuesday 22 May 12.30pm set off from Brookvale Community Centre car-park and walking for two-hours through Aston and Preston Brook. Tuesday 29 May set off from Castlefields Health Centre for a short 30-minute walk

Derek and John our Volunteer Walk leaders will be leading both walks.
