Remembrance Day services will be held in Widnes and Runcorn on Sunday 10 November 2019.

The Widnes service will be held at the War Memorial, Victoria Park, Widnes, at 10.45am, and the Runcorn Service will be held at the Cenotaph, Greenway Road, Runcorn, at 3pm.

Prior to these services, on Monday 4 November at 2pm, part of the two lawns on either side of the Runcorn war memorial will be rededicated as Gardens of Remembrance. A short service of dedication will be held for that purpose and persons wishing to place British Legion Remembrance Crosses are most welcome to do so.

The Royal British Legion has made an appeal to the general public and to organisations to observe a two minutes silence on Monday 11 November at 11am.

As we remember the fallen, we can also look towards 8 May 2020 which is the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe.

We are also reminded that Halton is home to nearly 178 Commonwealth War Graves, which are tended by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Of these, 105 relate to the fallen of World War One and 73 from World War Two and later battles overseas..
