A Widnes resident has received two different scam TV licence emails on the same day! (See example above)

Trading Standards advised deleting the emails without clicking on any links.

There has been a notable increase in TV licence scams since the Coronavirus lockdown restrictions have been in place.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Dave Cargill, said: “The likely reason for this is that scammers realise residents are relying on their TV’s for entertainment/news more than they were before the lockdown and are trying to take advantage of the situation. “
