Halton Borough Council Trading Standards is warning of scam telephone calls aimed at individual personal/community alarms – mostly used by the elderly.

The calls are claiming to be from or working with the NHS (which they are not) and asking for recipients personal details.

If you are already a user of a personal/community alarm, there is no legitimate reason for your provider to ask you for your personal details in an unsolicited telephone call.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Trading Standards, Cllr Martha Lloyd Jones, said: “If you receive a call like this, it is a scam.

“If you have any concerns about your personal/community alarm then contact your provider via your usual telephone number you have for them, or the provider’s website.

“DO NOT USE any numbers or websites that the caller has given you.”

If you or somebody you know has been caught out by a scam or fraud please contact one of our specialist officers, Linda or Sue on 0151 511 8785 or 0151 511 8775, who are already working with people in Halton who have lost thousands of pounds to scams.
