A project funded through Halton Borough Council has been nominated for the Best Children and Young People Social Prescribing Project.

Wellbeing Enterprises, which runs the project for Halton, has been nominated for the award for the Best Children and Young People Social Prescribing Project in the prestigious Dunn Social Prescribing Network Awards 2022.

It is paid for by The Council’s Youth Grant.

The Social Prescribing Network Awards hosted by the Social Prescribing Network and the College of Medicine recognises and celebrates the wealth of innovation in social prescribing projects running throughout the UK and internationally.

Wellbeing Enterprises ‘Inspire’ service has supported hundreds and hundreds of children and young people and their families in Halton to improve their health and wellbeing and move forward.

Halton Borough Council Executive Board Member for Children, Young People and Families, Cllr Tom McInerney, said: “The service offers one to one support to overcome things that may be bothering children and young people in their lives, as well as practical, social and emotional support to help them take positive steps to improve wellbeing.”

In addition, children and young people are able to access a wide range of educational and social inclusion activities and volunteering opportunities. Importantly, children and young people are in the driving seat of the Inspire service as they shape the services and activities available.

Mark Swift, CEO at Wellbeing Enterprises said he was ‘chuffed’ at news of the nomination.

He said: “The Inspire Service provides much needed practical, social and emotional support for children, young people and their families in Halton’. I’m incredibly proud that the hard work of staff, volunteers and children and young people has been recognised through this nomination”.

The winners of the 2022 Social Prescribing Network Awards will be announced at the 4th International Social Prescribing Conference on the 10th and 11th of March 2022.
