As part of North-West Learn Fest, a celebration of learning in libraries across the north-west, Halton Borough Council will be hosting more special Tech Meet Ups for adults and young people of all abilities, at its libraries.

Discover augmented reality in the library and learn what a CodeBug is. Programme our Code-a-pillar and create with the ‘Electro-dough’.

Augmented Reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment whereby the objects that reside in the real-world are “augmented” by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory, and olfactory.

If that is a mouthful, look at the pictures and video attached, which explain all!

Following popular events at Widnes and Halton Lea last weekend, we will be doing this again this Saturday at Ditton and Runcorn libraries – there is more info available here: https://library.haltonbc.info/north-west-learn-fest/.

The tech minded may also be interested in code clubs which are every Monday at Ditton and Runcorn and Tuesday at Widnes and Halton Lea – lots of tech learning opportunities in the libraries!

Halton Borough Council Executive Board Member for Libraries, Cllr Phil Harris, said: “Libraries throughout the North West are celebrating learning during North West Learn Fest and Halton Libraries invite you to attend our amazing activities where you can learn something new and have fun.”

On Saturday 22 September, Ditton library and Runcorn library will be hosting tech meet ups where you can come along and learn creative code, make and create with digital equipment and discover augmented reality with our fantastic collection of AR resources. Learning & fun guaranteed for all ages!
