An industrial dispute which could have seen bin collections stopped and Household Waste Recycling Centres closed after Christmas, has been suspended after LCR Mayors and Leaders held discussions with Veolia and Unite to return to the negotiating table.

After a new offer was made today by Veolia, Unite have temporarily suspended their industrial action, which was originally due to start on 28th December,  to allow for further negotiations and a ballot of their members.

As a result, Household Waste Recycling Centres will remain open (except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day) and normal Christmas period bin collections will continue until the result of the negotiations and the Unite ballot.
