If there is anything about Widnes and Runcorn history, Jean Bradburn doesn’t know, it is probably not worth knowing.

The local historian is back at Widnes library for an evening of local history on Tuesday 18 June, 6pm.

Jean worked as a local studies librarian for Halton libraries and following her retirement has pursued this interest and published books about Halton’s two towns.

This talk will focus on her book ‘Widnes at Work’ which covers the varied industries in Widnes throughout the years with stories from those who worked in the varied factories.

Jean researched her book by talking to Widnesians about their jobs and collected oral histories which will be shared on the evening.

A great evening for anyone who has fond memories of ICI, the Crispy and The Gus!

Books will be available to purchase on the evening.

Tickets are free but booking is required online https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/local-history-talk-widnes-at-work-with-jean-bradburn-tickets-59702101593 or in person at your local library.’
