Young people dressed up as their favourite story as Halton Borough Council celebrated #WorldBookDay at its libraries on Thursday 7 March.

One of the events, where children were encouraged to get into the spirit of things was ‘Rhyme Time’ at Halton Lea Library .

Little Olivia Hughes, aged three, from Runcorn came as Little Red Riding Hood, while Lilie-Rose Szabo and her brother Louis, aged three, joined their mum, Roxane (corr) at the session.

World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book, is an annual event the organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright.

It was first celebrated on 23 April 1995, and continues to be recognised on that day. The UK and Ireland celebrate on March 7.
