Stallholders are looking forward to welcoming the public back, as Widnes Market reopens on Monday 15 June, giving YOU the opportunity to support your local traders.
There will be a range of new safety features in place, but the same good value and friendly service.
Both the indoor and outdoor markets will be open from that date With the flea market opening, at a later date, as yet to be confirmed.
So that you can shop safely, Halton Borough Council has been making some changes:
Shoppers will be asked to enter and leave from certain doors: 1) Main glass/conservatory entrance area facing Morrison’s car park.2) The door to side leading to outdoor market
There will be security on both doors and they will filter people through slowly to stop the entrances getting blocked with people
There will be strict social distancing: throughout the market you will see markings on the floor, please use these markings to ensure you leave at least two metres between you and other customers.
Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for the Physical Environment, Cllr Ron Hignett, said there will be a number of changes to keep the public and the staff safe.
“We are urging people to stick to the measures we have put in place, so everyone can shop and support their local market, and stay safe.
“One thing we guarantee that won’t be changing is the great products at great prices that will be on offer from our traders!”
Opening hours are different: so that we can carry out a daily deep clean of the premises, the indoor market will open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
The outdoor market will open on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm.
During your visit, there are things you can do to help everyone to stay safe:
Please pay by card whenever you can.
*Have your shopping list ready: so that you know what stalls to visit, this will help to avoid blockages in aisles
*Be respectful of traders and other shoppers: Please use the two metre floor markers to ensure that you keep a two metre distance from other shoppers.
*Don’t be offended if you are reminded by our staff or traders to observe distancing rules, this is for everyone’s safety.
To control the risk of infection, in addition to keeping a safe distance from others, please remember to wash your hands as soon as you get home.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday 15 June.
