Safety conscious pupils Aimee Lea Anderson and Jessica Evans from Farnworth CE Primary School in Widnes have won the annual Halton Junior Safety Officer award.

Run by Halton Borough Council, the scheme helps to ensure that all pupils in schools are reminded about various safety messages.  The Junior Safety Officers meet with road safety officers from Halton Council throughout the year who provide themes, tips and advice to share with their school.

The girls handed in their work book which covered many aspects of safety – road, fire, bonfire, cycle, water and online.  They put in a huge amount of effort and their messages have been disseminated to all pupils in the school by way of reading in assemblies and running competitions.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Transportation, Cllr Stan Hill, says:  “Congratulations to the two winners – this is a fantastic achievement, with 49 primary schools in Halton taking part in the scheme. Well done to all the children involved, as they are setting a good example to other pupils and helping them learn the important of keeping safe.”

The girls will attend the launch night for the 2019-20 Junior Safety Officer scheme in September when they will meet the new recruits for next term.
