Are you an older person, who wants a refresher driving course to help you drive safely for longer.

Halton Borough Council has 50 places left for a  FREE two hour refresher driving course for over 65’s.

The scheme was launched in March this year with the aim of refreshing driver’s skills with the aim of keeping them safe behind the wheel for longer.

The informal course takes two hours and includes some theory and practical. There is no pass or fail. It is taken in your own car and will enhance your current skills.

The driver will discuss any concerns you have and can tailor the session to suit your needs.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Transportation, Cllr Stan Hill, said: “This is a great opportunity for people who perhaps took their tests decades ago and could do with a refresher.”

June Hutchinson. aged 69,  (pictured below with the instructor Mervyn Watkins) found the course a really informative experience and the instructor explained things that have changed since she completed her test.

Anne Daly had lost confidence in her driving and said that the whole process ran smoothly and her confidence has been restored as she can now drive to various places and feels she has regained her freedom.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To book a place on the course please contact Michelle Simpson, Road Safety Coordinator on 0151 511 8708 or email roadsafety@halton.gov.uk
